Last night I took Bacca for a walk and opted to go to the trail head a few blocks away. Bacca needs to remember how to heel, so this was a good opportunity.
We started off going down a street that whoops, ended in a dead end. At the end of the street were 4 mule deer does and 1 fawn. Bacca wanted to play with them like WOW. But the most hilarious part was the house blaring Sweet Caroline. I do like Neil Diamond and just found this soundtrack to the mule deer, the spazzy dog and the sun going down as pretty funny. So after 2 min of having the stare off with the deer we turned around and took the right road. As we were walking I was astounded to see bunnies in someone’s yard: 2 black bunnies and one white bun with black spots. Then across the street from them a white bun with brown spots hopped about (I initially thought it was a rock, sad I know). What was with the bunnies?!?!?! Bacca didn’t know what to do with them. He’s never seen bunnies before. He lay down in the middle of the road to stare at them. He does this when he wants to play, but also show submissiveness? unsure? No idea. But anyways, he didn’t want to leave his spot until he saw the Mule Deer come out from between the trees. Oh.my.goodness. That dog has a serious thing for the deer. I think he wants to play with them.
Anyways, our ENTIRE walk to the trail head had him trying to go after the deer. We finally got above them and a house maneuvered its way in between us so he forgot about them and stuck to the, “OOOOOOOOOOOO TRAIL!!!!!!” mentality. And there he met a new lady. This pup is a little black dog with foxy ears and she and Bacca ran around for about 5 minutes and then we moved on. Stick throwing commenced and then we saw yet another pretty lady. This one was 8 years old and at first did nothing but snap at him and growl. . . but then. . . after he went and lay down a ways off to stare at her (just like he did with the bunnies) she was all for it. Then ran about and wrastled a bit and it was awesome.
On the way home we had to go a different route as the one wanted to take was full of Mule Deer (they were all over the road and in people’s yards). Saw the bunnies again too. SO WEIRD. Turns out they are just random procreating bunbuns. . . they don’t belong to anyone, although it sounds like the initial couple did.
Today Bacca’s steady girlfriend is coming over so he’s going to have some explaining to do. She is of course allowed to have LOTS of boyfriends, but uh. . . . he needs to stay true. Tsk tsk. This could be hilarious, oh my goodness yes.
